I have a 2009 Concours. I also have a chance to aquire a 2014 service manual. Will it adequately cover the 09 version or will an older one be more specific? Thank you.

I have both.
Commonalities like forks, rear end servicing, valve clearance inspection/adjustment, brake pad, oil change, air filter and coolant replacement - you should be good to go. Dive deeper than that (especially into bodywork R&R, ABS inspection, etc). and you'd be better off with a model-specific manual.
