How did you update the maps without registering?

I thought the unit needed to be attached to computer for map updates.
 
I hooked it up to my computer's USB, went to garmin.com, and logged in, and it let me download a firmware update. I thought it downloaded .30, but maybe not, it was a while ago.

In any case, if you were to try to register it, you'd not have any problem because it is not registered.

I purchased this from Amazon because I thought I was selling my ZX14 to a private party who wanted the gps and was pricing his offer to include it. But that fell through. His loss....

I already have a 665 and my car gps registered, both with lifetime maps, one with lifetime traffic/weather.
