Son went down last night.

Crotch Rocket
James went off the road last night and plowed a bunch of barbed wire. Head light went out in a curve, ended up in gravel and that was that. His body was able to ride the bike a couple of miles to his house, but both brake levers are gone. Bike is busted up some, but doesn't look too bad at this point. Icon helmet totaled, broke the chin bar in halve. Icon jacket is torn in several spots, but some patches will add to it's looks. Kevlar jeans same as jacket. Lost one boot. Had to walk to his body's house barefoot. As for him: Broken collar bone, multiple scrapes and bruises. Even some bad scrapes on his head inside the helmet. Other wise in pretty good shape. He didn't call us to come get him till this morning and wife had to force him to go to emergency room to get checked out while I was hauling his bike home.

He's lucky. It could have been much worse. I wish him a speedy recovery. Bionic Bob COG & AMA member First C14 CDA member #0220 2008 C14 & 2003 Mean Streak

Glad to hear he wasn't too badly injured. That would be an very nerve racking experience having the headlight go out mid corner. Greg H from Mass, Connie Droppers Anonymous Awards Dude COG# 7010,a Tracey CDA 120 (2.0) 99 Connie "Herrin Christabelle", 05 Ninja 250

Reminder: If your headlight does go out in a curve, ususally is't just one of the elements. Immediately switch from high to low, or low to high, you should still have light. Unless there's other failures involved, like wiring, fuses or other, you should still have the other bulb element available for illumination. Turnsignals, including 4ways will give off enough light to safely ride the bike at a slow crawl. This doesn't, however, preclude you from running a normal rate of speed to start with, making all attempts to slow down as well as maintain your awareness with the rest of your surroundings. Glad he got off with relatively minor injuries. I'm sure he'll have something to say about the collarbone, and it won't be nice things...DAMHIK http://millerized.com/pegs I'll be in the garage

Dang...at speed, one strand of barbed wire getting under that helmet...wow Somebody's looking out for your family... My guess is, that you have one young man there who is all about wearing the gear! Is the bike totalled?

Went out and looked at the spot this AM. He did take out about 80' of fence. It was all rolled up in a ball where the bike stopped. Big hole in the weeds beyond that where my son stopped. Actually sheared off several metal posts. Would have hit a power pole if he had kept it on the road another 20 feet. The bike is not Totaled in that it will be ridden again, but its going to take some E-Bay stuff to get it back together again. COG # 8062 AMA # 1084053 ROMA or Scarlet harlot acording to my wife

Glad he's going to be ok, he was very lucky. Best wishes for a speedy recovery and I can tell you now he's going to hate the brace they give you for a broken collar bone. I had to wear mine in the summer :(

Coffee and all. Thanks for your concern and wishes. He is doing well. The bike is an 86, with massive changes. It has a kz900 fairing (I think that's what it is) which was not hurt except for the right mirror which sheered off ant the base. It also has a Vance and Hines 4-1 exhaust, damaged but repairable. The front forks are suspect at this point. Very large scare on the lower part of the right fork. No visible damage to the uppers but will have to check for bends and seals. I have listed in the "Emporium" the stuff we know need. you can see this project a our other stuff on "webshots" COG # 8062 AMA # 1084053 ROMA or Scarlet harlot acording to my wife
