Tank signatures

RBinTEX

Tricycle
Are the "Kawasaki" emblems on the tank just glued on like the rest of the emblems? I have a '04 C-10 and want to slick up the tank by removing the name plates.

Ronnie: I think it is more like double stick tape. Get some strong monofilament or florocarbon fishing line, the plastic like stuff. Use it in a sawing action to cut under the adhesive. I removed mine via that method with no damage to the paint on the tank. tcars John

Nice idea John, I will try it in the morning. I was afraid that they may have had something other than adhesive holding them in place.

Nope. Looks like this when your done http://home.comcast.net/~slybones/Concours/images/Dscn2246.jpg 2003 Concours, 57K COG #6953 IBA 28004 http://home.comcast.net/~slybones/Concours/connieMain.htm

Well, not exactly like that, but with some work it can. Nice pic Sly. You should get with of Charley Gary though, and get that hole in your side cover fixed. "If it hasn't killed me yet, it's runnin out of time" COG # 8062 AMA # 1084053 ROMA or Scarlet harlot acording to my wife

Been there, done that. It is fixed. Looks nice too. Very Happy with that fix. Removing the badges is one of earlier things I did to my Connie. My pics from the "removing badges page" are gonna be old. Generally all of the newer pics all have the tank bra in place. 2003 Concours, 57K COG #6953 IBA 28004 http://home.comcast.net/~slybones/Concours/connieMain.htm

RB, checked out the hole album. Very nice. I especially like the exposed air horns. Post a link to the Naked Connie in progress when you get a chance. "If it hasn't killed me yet, it's runnin out of time" COG # 8062 AMA # 1084053 ROMA or Scarlet harlot acording to my wife

The more I read about this, the more I want to take mine off -- Like this weekend. I am digging the look of running blank. So once you slice under the badge with floss or filament, what's left on the tank? Glue residue? And what do you use to clean that jazz up? Goof Off? Turpentine?

My ST is a work in process, many improvements have occurred over time and since the pictures were put on line it has changed. Being a newbie here, I don't know where the "Naked Connie" is on the forum, could you point me to it?

To reply to my own mail, I just returned from the garage and put up the Goo-Gone and am happy to report my bike is logo free except for the ones on the bags. Now if I can just get in my foot peg lowering kit and my repair kit for the fuel valve, maybe I can go out and really enjoy my new "skunk works" bike. .

RB go to the common questions page and click on the link to "Elvin's" huge pic gallery or something to that effect. Lots of relay good looking naked ladys (kidding just connies) "If it hasn't killed me yet, it's runnin out of time" COG # 8062 AMA # 1084053 ROMA or Scarlet harlot acording to my wife

If you click on the pic of my bike it will take you to my webshots page. Son has a naked work in progress. "If it hasn't killed me yet, it's runnin out of time" COG # 8062 AMA # 1084053 ROMA or Scarlet harlot acording to my wife

Finally got around to removing my tank signatures and Kawasaki badges. Painless, with fishing line and a little help from a friend. Used my finger to remove the foam (rubbing) then WD-40 to get off the residual glue. Looked very nice naked and clean, but then I got creative and rebranded the bike BOEING. http://www.flickr.com/photos/tallpines/4780505528/ Its a real head-turner now, especially since there's not a lot of connies up here in upstate NY and nobody knows what to think.
