The 2009 Concours Owners Group National Rally, "Shiftin' and Grinnin", will be held in the Southeast region at the Fontana Village Resort, North Carolina Now, if you are not aware of where this is, Deals Gap is 9 miles away, the Cherohala Skyway is 25 miles away, the Foothills Parkway is 23 miles away, the Great Smoky Mountain National Park is less than 30 miles away. In short, this is motorcycle heaven. The listing of attractions is quite large and we will get more info on this to you later on. There are a large number of activities available on site, so plan to bring the entire family. The resort has a wide range of accommodations; rooms, poolside rooms, sweetheart rooms, 1 to 3 bedroom cabins, camping, and even houseboats. As before, we will have more information on all of these items at a later date. Feel free to check out the website of the resort: http://www.fontanavillage.com http://www.fontanavillage.com/maps/villagelegend.pdf You will find they have a great deal to offer. As to when this will be, mark your calendars for June 8-11, 2009 and check the SE list and http://www.cog-online.org for updates and more information. A preliminary web page is already in place. You can view it at <http://www.cog-online.org/clubportal/clubstatic.cfm?clubID=1328&pubmenuoptID=19692>. Online registration will be available soon! Thanks, CU at the Gap! John Carver, Vic Salisbury, and Calvin Underwood, your hosts. The Georgia Mafia rides again!

Thanks for hosting the rally. Sounds excellent. Can you give us some idea of the weather (for packing purposes) for that time of year, and anything else you might find helpful to those who haven't traveled there (eg: wildlife)? Looking into whether or not we can pull off a part Americade NY and full COG National. In the planning stages. Greg: The temps usually range from the low to upper 60's at night to mid 80's in the daytime. However, we have just had a recent heat wave and I did experience temps above 90 at the resort last week. hth tcars John COG, ROK, & AMA

Looking forward to the Rally there, Sounds great! Will need a Campgrounds site for Toy Hauler for the Week of. Whats the lowdown? J.R. WNY AAD

Woohoo! They have showers AT the campsite! Wow! Not that roaming around to find a shower at CO this month was difficult or anything, in fact it was kinda fun....

Ah, shoot, Jennifer. Who needs a shower anyway? Just ride thru a rain storm and let the wind blow you dry. That being said, I DID need a shower after riding from Poplar Bluff, MO to Macon on the way back from CO. 100 degrees from Calhoun, GA to Macon!!! Yikes! AMA# 686667 COG# 7073 CDA# 0136

Hey Eddie, I got some great pics of you on your Connie on the way out to CO! I sent you a PM with links.... I rode on to Monteredy and then down to San Diego and came back home the southern route, AZ was 110 when I rolled through. Shower ain't the word for it!

Made our reservations for our Toy Hauler last Thursday, 8 full hook ups still available according to the person I talked to. Kurt & Sue Nordstrom Spotsylvania, VA COG 6049 & 6049A VA & WV Assistant Area Directors

Yes, you can book rooms, cabins, camping space, or even a houseboat. Just remember to tell them it is for the Concours National Rally, Shiftin & Grinnin. Somewhere on here I have posted the discounted rates, so just look around. They will have a rate hike at the end of the year, so you need to book ASAP. They have a limited number of rooms, but a lot of cabins. So if there are several in a group it would be beneficial to get a cabin as a group and split the costs. hth, tcars John COG, ROK, & AMA

ounds like it'll be a hoot! However you guys who plan such early meets are killing us college students! Once again I will not be able to attend due to a conflict with finals week. Bummer dude! There's a room being held for me. I can't wait. Are we there, yet? Bill Hookman Columbus, OH COG #6893, Ohio AAD CDA #0278 The twistier and hillier the road, the bigger the smile.

I have my room booked. Can't wait to ride some roads with smooth turns. If i was in the army i would have to go left right left right left right. Not crazy about that on my motorcycle. Goldie
