Trailers and hitches

Who's using a trailer these days with their C-10? What kind and what hitch, how do you like it or what would you do different?

I just sold my trailer (Northern tool - http://tinyurl.com/26d8eb2 ) and my hitch (Hitchdoc - http://tinyurl.com/3ag9yrm ) I liked it, but I might be tempted to get one of Jim Millers hitchs ( http://www.millerized.com/ ) if I was to get anoother. Hitch by HitchDoc, love the way you can remove the receiver and you can hardly tell it's there. Sears Shoreline cargo trailer with a swivel hitch on the trailer. Wouldn't change a thing, had great initial advice from a fellow COGger about tongue weight, keep it at 25lbs (I keep a fish scale in the trailer) and it tracks fine at varying weights. Can tell the difference in the curves, but you should be well aware you are trailering, so act (react) accordingly and I've had no issues. Need to add the u-bolt spare tire carrying capability, but my trailering requirements have tapered back so i just haven't gone and done it yet.

Vic, I guess you mean the trailer has a hitch that rotates a little to accomodate the lean of the bike? I'm not familier with the shoreline trailer, does Sears still sell that and is the swivel a special order or does it come that way? A Beemer buddie of mine has a Piggy Back made in Easley S.C. has a steel frame and fiber glass box, weighs about 75 lbs. and seems deal for the job and I know he's had it a couple of years and been more than happy with it.

FWIW, the PiggyBacker's empty weight is 186 lbs (Deluxe model with 12" wheels and independent suspension).

I am still tempted. Have the hitch made in BC somewhere. Like this camp trailer: http://www.leesurelite.com/tenttrailers.asp

Saw a few of that type at the Beemer rally in Huntsville last weekend, some pretty nice campers that seem to be getting more popular each year, last year there was a vender with some but those are a bit more than I'm needing, and I stand corrected on the weight of the Piggyback.

Yes, the hitch end on the trailer swivels. I've run the curvy roads to get to and from point XX with this set-up and it works real nice. The Shoreline model was sold by Sears around the 80's?, doubt they sell them anymore. Sorta looks like the CM1000 model that http://timeouttrailers.org/CycleMate.aspx sells. A fellow COGger just picked one up, similar to mine, used for about $300. It needed some TLC but wasn't in that bad of shape.
