Tunnel of Trees-Traverse City/Petoskey/Harbor Springs area COGgers

I'm planning a run through Tunnel of Trees on Thursday, October 9, or possibly Friday the 10th.

I'm adding a day to a 3-day weekend camping trip near Baldwin, and will be heading up to Petoskey (from Grand Rapids) on that Thursday.

Anyone in the northwest lower interested in joining up? I'll be riding solo, and camping overnight at Petoskey State Park on Thursday/Friday. I'd be open to a run thru ToT either Thursday afternoon/evening, or Friday morning. Or both.

I'll be heading back down to Baldwin, Friday noon-ish.

Weather permitting, of course.

Bringer back!

Don't forget to make a stop at Leggs Inn in Cross Village for some great Polish cookin'!

Remind me closer to the ride. I may be able to join you.
If your coming up from Baldwin you will be 2 miles from
my place. Watch for deer.

Will do, RWulf.

I'll be coming up to Petoskey from Grand Rapids, then heading back down to Baldwin (actually, closer to Scottville) for the rest of the weekend.

My Tunnel of Trees weekend trip was a goodun. Weather was great almost the entire 4 days. Some clouds and a little light drizzle on the way up to Petoskey, but got nicer later.

Tunnel of Trees was way cool. Some 20 miles of twisties along the Lake Michigan shoreline (NW lower). Traffic was light and most cars pull over when a bike follows. The colors weren't near close to peak as I thought they'd be. Best colors were in the inland stretch up to Petoskey. The coastal areas turn later I hear.

My boss lent me his GoPro and I shot the ToT with about 30 minutes of video. I'll post to YouTube at some point.

So I set up at Petoskey State Park....t'was well loaded down.

Friday morning, I set sail for Baldwin, cruising down M22. I almost like M22 better than ToT. Faster, lots of wide sweepers with the tighter stuff.

Joined up with a bunch of guys at Whelan Lake, about 20 miles west of Baldwin in the Manistee National Forest. This was Ground Zero for Friday-Sunday.

Lotsa guitar playing, eating, drinking, smokin' and whatnot. Aboutr 20 guys and a dozen players among us. This is Whelan Lake last Saturday morning:

Went kayaking on the Pere Marquette (Bowman Bridge to Sulak Rec). Gorgeous days, cold nights. Hit 26 deg on Saturday morning. But I was geared up and all was well.

Put 550 miles on the bike. Great weekend.

Nice pics! Yes, M22 is a great run. Just for the record, colors near the coast tend to turn later than those inland. Something about the lake water keeping the nights warmer so the leaves turn later. At least that what my know it all sisters tell me. ;D

I was just there this weekend with the wife and the pickup.  She doesn't do rides over an hour or so.  It truly was beautiful, though when I went thru the TOT I was stuck behind a bunch of flatlanders who think that if it's a bit drizzly you should stay under 25, then ALL go to Legs Inn, so that will be a stop in the future for me.  A good time nonetheless!
