Where did you ride today?

Mini Bike
Thought I'd begin a discussion on local rides. Local meaning, local to you. As I write this is it Sunday and a seriously steady rain washes away any hopes for a great ride, however yesterday Saturday June 5, was a spectacular day for riding. I'll begin with Saturday 6/5/10. Reading Dan Paulsen's NWCOG Volcano Run for Saturday Aug 7th sparked my curiosity. The run would begin in Randle, WA at 7:30. Considering signing up for the ride I wondered if could I get to Randle from Renton by 7:30 AM. I used this excuse to make a trial run to get a sense to how long it would take to get to Randle. Heading out about 8:00 AM from Renton Highlands. Road out Issaquah Hobart road through Ravensdale and Ennumclaw where I joined the 410. A quick side trip to the top of Chinook Pass and back then south over Cayuse pass on 123 to 12 west Randle then south to 25/Windy Ridge which was closed at mile 15. Along the way through Rainier NP, Seasonal snow melt waterfalls dotted the landscape. The return was Morton up hwy 7 to La Grande and 161 to Buckley then 189 to home. The route back was filled with riders who started later. Is it wrong to say I got tired of waving? :) If someone knows of a better way to post a route please feel free to clue me it. Here's my latest ride. What was yours? <iframe width="425" height="350" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" src="http://maps.google.com/maps? f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Renton,+WA+98059&daddr=WA- 123+S+to:Randle,+WA+to:Nat+for+Dev+Rd+25+to:Orville+Rd+E+to:River+Ave+to:47.308103,- 121.898804+to:276th+Ave+SE+to:156th+Ave+SE&geocode=FYay1AIdl464- Ckr2MRGImaQVDEVcFBY9Tw8GQ%3BFQxyygIdzFHB-A%3BFTAUxgIdDR67-CkJnNe0ls- WVDHkD2Q9TMhsEw%3BFS6rwwIdU7W6-A%3BFWj3zAIdFSq3-A%3BFSKizwIdCvi5-A%3B%3BFWDE0wIdLti6- A%3BFe6A1AIdjGi4- A&gl=us&hl=en&mra=dpe&mrcr=4&mrsp=6&sz=10&via=4,6,7&d irflg=h&sll=47.35278,- 121.977081&sspn=0.490306,0.883026&ie=UTF8&ll=47.002734,- 121.569214&spn=1.311152,2.334595&z=8&output=embed"></iframe>

My friends their wives & me & my wife rode about 230mi through Lancaster, PA Amish country yesterday, very nice.

Dude, hope to see you on the Volcano Ride. The faster way of your route would be WA 167 south, Wa 512 west to Puyallup/South Hill, WA 161 south , US 7 south to Morton, Us 12 east to Randle. 95 miles, two hrs. Thursdays ride with sunny, blue skies: Jeff of Lacey also riding a '01 Conk and I did my version of the Cascade Loop, 640 mile for me, more for Jeff: I-5 up to Mt Vernon (I hate the slab but this is still a 13 hr ride), East to Winthrop, Okanagon. South to Wenatchee, Ellensburg. South on Yakima Canyon to Selah over to Gleed and Natches. Hwy 410 west to Mt Ranier Park, over Chinnok Pass to Enumclaw. Midway to Enumscratch a big elk butt in tree line had me hitting the brakes and slowing down as the visibility was poor in dusk, light rain combined with tree line near roadway. Thursday was a great day to ride with warm temps and sunshine at least until we started back over the Cascades from Yakima. We call it , Welcome back to the wet side! I was riding like a drunk sailor at low speeds in traffic. Could not keep balance. Turns out that the front wheels bearings were going bad but made it home!

Youngest son and I took off yesterday afternoon. We stopped in Marbelmount for lunch at the Que Car BBQ. Then fueled up and headed over US 20 to Winthrop for desert. One of the best ice cream stands in the US is in Winthrop. Lots of home made flavors. I had a Coffee over banana fudge on a waffle cone. We stopped in Marbelmount on the way back to refuel. 180 miles and 4.6 gallons and 4th and 5th gear a lot of the time. I was amazed at the lack of traffic and most cagers pulled over to let us by. Very unusual. Highway 20 over the Cascades has to rival Highway 12 over Lolo in Idaho, and it is in my back yard. Be sure to check out Colin's ride in September. Dude, give me a holler if you ever want to ride up this way. <iframe width="425" height="350" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" src="http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&amp;source=s_d&amp;saddr=8266+Cedar+Grove+Ave,+Concrete,+WA+98237&amp;daddr=Winthrop,+WA&amp;hl=en&amp;geocode=&amp;mra=ls&amp;sll=37.0625,-95.677068&amp;sspn=30.737461,86.220703&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;ll=48.60311,-120.979095&amp;spn=0.25206,1.58731&amp;output=embed"></iframe>

http://mapshare.delorme.com/Consumer/V.aspx?p=4jf8yw8n 1987 Connie with 148K on the clock. 1994 front end, Stors handelbar kit with a couple of homemade spacers to add more rise. Murph's grips and Kawasaki fairing extenders, 2" taller windshield. K&N Stage 1 carb kit and K&N air filter. Not much for scenery .. but I did the ride. Went up to St Paul on Thursday for a job interview then came back home on Friday.

Dan, Those bearings can be a handful. Glad to hear you made it back safely. I'm plsnninh on coming down Friday evening and spending the night in one of those posh motels in Randle or Packwood. See you then.

Sorry to say all I did this weekend was to clean the grime off my scoot from the Bun Cooler 2 weeks ago, fix the bag latch on the CFO's scoot from her little mishap on Cayuse pass in the snow, oh and fix the disconnected turn signal wire. I did manage to get out on my new toy Saturday evening and took my International 470 for a sail on Lake Washington, after I built a launching dolly.

And no that's not me (wish it were LoL)

Hmmm, well I rode the lawn mower, a lot, again. Then I rode the dual sport to a neighbor to deliver some things. Next I rode RD (connie) into town and bought a lottery ticket. Geez, that was it for today. Tomorrow looks better, but Tuesday is even better, hoping to go to Bryson City. tcars john

Colin, Nice shot of hiking out on the rail. Seems these days the only thing I hike out is the recycling to the curb.

Sunday, left Driggs for Coeur D'Alene. Raining hard so took i15 to i90. Saw lots of harleys headed east on 90 and I think a Connie headed south on i15. Weather looks good Tuesday so I'm cutting convention sort and headed home before the weather turns on Wednesday.

Rode last weekend Saturday and Sunday. about 150 miles round trip both days. Wanted to explore some local FM. Ya never know what you will find. Saw some decent scenery, passed couple riders, etc. Nice way to spend the weekend. Sunday - To Lucan Minnesota and back to check out roads for group ride I am leading on Saturday 200 miles Monday - To work and back 75 miles Wednesday - To work and back 75 miles Pretty boring life if anyone wants details ...............

Boring? Not what the cagers think as you pass them by during their daily commutes. Don't you know you're that crazy guy on the motorcycle? :)

That's my idea of fun, hanging off the side of a sail. I take a 35 minute ride down Indian River Drive every morning. I still appreciate it because I will never forget the commutes I did in N.J. The Indian River is part in Martin County - where I live, and part in St. Lucie County - where I work. No matter which county you are in, the speed limit on the drive is 35. I may push it a little at 38 or 39. The drive is one of the most beatiful rodes in this area. The river is to my right on the way in and on my left on the way back. Some mornings I can watch the fish breaking the water. Some afternoons I can watch wind surfers, or sailboats. I'm riding my 06 Connie, and it runs as well as I can expect, it sounds powerful, clean and has a sweet low roar at 38. Joe

Haven't been of Hwy 20 this season, Think I'll ride there this Saturday. Sawfiler, thanks for the inspiration.
