2010 c14 Fairing removal

What's the best way to remove the center fairing on the 2010? I started from the top down and finally managed to remove the center fairing but was afraid I was going to break the locking tabs that hook into the lower fairing. Should I have removed the center and lower as one piece? Thanks for all feedback! Wayne

The new locking tabs on the lower section of the 2010 fairing (where the colored panel meets the black lower section) are problematic to remove. There is a small ridge on one of them that acts to prevent it from removing easily. You have to work at it to get it loose, but it will eventually release. Once you get it apart, look at the colored tab real close and you will see the ridge line on it that it hangs up on. Sometimes I use a thin plastic tool and push inward on the tab while lifting up on the panel to get it to release.
