Hello NC folks. As we all know half the fun of the National is getting there and getting back. We are putting a page together for route suggestions in and out of ID. Falls. If you have suggestions post up here and we will try to get them on the National web page. Also folks from your area will have a hint where you'll be and maybe meet up. Thanks :beerchug:

Rick, No link for yellwostone to ID Falls.

Oopsie..

All better

I've been looking at the riding times on the ride back after the Rally and some of the days are only a bit over 5 hours of riding..I've been playing with the ride times and stop overs buy retaining the same route.

Here's what I've got worked up so far. Try google maps. Not fool proof but alot more flexible than mapquest. May have some suggestions for you from Yellowstone down. Lemme look it over. I can punch these up into a garmin or TomTom GPS file for you too.

Heres what I've got so far Rick. Take a look at from Bear lake around the south tip on 30/89 to Kemmerer (Birth place of JC Penny's) pop on the 80 east a bit then south on the 191 to Vernal UT. The 191 is a beaut we just did earlier this year. Then head west again on the 191/40 into Heber UT.

I'll have to try to route it and see how it looks..I cant figure out how to modify the maps you're posting..

Haven't got anything posted past Bear lake so far. Maps are locked so nobody can move 'em around. You can export to your own google map acct and modify though.

This is a great route.  Looks like you will stay in Cody (if you stick to this plan) on the 24th which would be perfect for me and the wife meeting with you all there since we will have to take I-90 to drop the kids off at the grandparents first.

Great hook up folks. Collins got these routes and more posted up on the main rally page. I should be done with yours Rasmith this weekend and get posted there as well. Bear Tooth is bucket list for sure. :great:

Actually according to my schedule Im getting into Cody on the Sunday the 25th. Only possible deviation thus far is skipping West Yellowstone and going directly to ID Falls

Looks like a great plan, Rick. Wish I could accompany you, but August is out of my window to make a National.

So I'm looking at a pre-run (w/o an actual run ) about a month early...early-mid July. I always go to Colorado on odd years anyway...might as well keep going.  ;)

Sunday Day 1
Leave Very Boring Rally, Duluth MN
Arrive Yellowstone River Inn, Glendive Montana
625 miles

Monday Day 2
Leave Glendive
Arrive Idaho Falls
563 Miles

Hope to see you all there.

Yup.  Marching band camp begins last wk of July/first wk of August, then we're right into school middle of Aug.  Between that and summer music camps & such, I have about a 3-4 week window for a big trip, usually about July 1-20 or so.  Only trip I took last year was to the National in AR, and that was in June after a lot of finagling & selling my soul to make up that time in July.  But I do have the tradition of heading out west on odd numbered years...yay for 2013!!  :motonoises:

Here is my plan.

About two weeks out, check the weather.  If the weather looks good;  set up the tent and make sure all the parts are there!  Stop my mail and tell the kids I will be gone for a while.  Leave when I feel like it.  Head north and a little east, have fun and plan to arrive the first day (maybe not).  AH retirement.  :)
