Alternate driving light mount part 2

Day off from the hospital, at least until 2130, when I’m back on call.🫣
Continuing the mock up of my new driving light mounts. So far looks good. Had a coworker weld a cap on a 1” square aluminum stock. Going to make my own brackets out of thicker aluminum than shown.
Paint black on the finished brackets.
Drill hole in cap of square and attach to bracket.
Square stock will only extend out about 4.5” and will be wrapped in black vinyl.
Lights going on are small Amazon LEDs I’ve been using on my SNARF mounts.
Figured it is worth a try and if it doesn’t work, I’m only out of $20.

Moving further along. Have final brackets bent and they seem strong enough for the lights. Not planning on being too much weight bearing. Need a little bit longer bolts for the radiator mount.
Have all week for this yet have a 300+ mile ride into South Carolina and the mountains of Georgia tomorrow, so will put this on hold until the weekend😂👍

Love how you've gone to square tubing. PITA to attach to round bar although FB did a good job with his rad hose clamps setup.

Picked up the proper bolt to attach and mounted it all up. All went well and fit as expected. Only issue I came across is that I underestimated the length of the tubing needed. Get back to work next week, I’ll see if my coworker can weld me another piece(s).
Looks like it is doable.592546E9-DBF3-4B57-AA37-4BE47E453FDB.jpeg9B10BA9C-4550-44CE-B2A0-8644B5D31B90.jpeg2BC03794-765B-439C-B17B-A40EB65AF3EB.jpeg5B643E94-4B3C-4730-926D-1ABB2026E62F.jpeg

if you want to use round tube, there are several possibilities to avoid soldering, an inner nut, as for bike handlebars, an expansive ankle, or rubber tube...
