AMA Pro (Road) Racing At A Crossroads by John Ulrich

Just FYI, here's links to a four-part series of editorials by John Ulrich expressing his opinion of the current state of AMA Pro Road Racing

Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4

Mr. Ulrich, a former Editor-in-Chief of Cycle World magazine, is the founder of Roadracing World & Motorcycle Technology magazine and a member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the AMA.  He's never been lacking for opinion, ego, detractors or supporters, but neither has he ever been shy about offering comment about industry members, sanctioning bodies, race management or owners and racers.  No one can question his passion for, and support of, American motorcycle roadracing.

I certainly don't agree with all of his opinions or conclusions in this short series of commentaries, just provide these links for those that might be interested in another perspective on things.

Very interesting read.  Thanks for the links.  AMA is not perfect, but it's evolving.  Sort of like us I guess.  Cheers.

As briefly touched-on in Part 1 of the series, it is important to understand and distinguish that "American Motorcyclist Association" (the lobbying and rider rep organization) has essentially nothing to do with the management of "AMA Pro Racing" which it ("AMA") sold to various entities depending on the type of racing.

Road racing, for example, was sold to Daytona Motorsports Group ("DMG", one of the many enterprises primarily owned and controlled by the France family of NASCAR fame) which is the organization that owns "AMA Pro Road Racing" (and the entity which is the primary subject of Ulrich's editorial).
