Folks,
Not sure why I didn't post this in the main rally page to start with but here goes:

We're doing a low key ride to the Black Hills of south Dakota to scope out a location to do either a bi-annual or annual ride.

Primarily we are focus on Hill City SD where we have ample camping, hotels and local places for dinner.

Looking for all input on rides, eats and places to bed

Rasmith,

I got the prefect places for you in Hill City.  I helped co-host the 2006 COG National Rally in Hill City with Jerry Layman and Larry Laranth.

Crooked Creek Camp Ground:  http://www.crookedcreeksd.com/

We used this camping site for the 2006 Rally.
Its located 2 miles south of Hill City, they great camping sites and also a have a motel on the site. They also serve breakfast and dinners "all you can eat" pancakes and burgers/hotdogs in the evening. They are the closest decent camp site to Hill City.

Best Western was the Rally Host Hotel site:  https://www.bestwestern.com/en_US/book/hotels-in-hill-city/best-western-golden-spike-inn-suites/propertyCode.42028.html

They have a restaurant on site.

Great Restaurants in Hill City: 1. Aipine Inn, Bumpin Buffalo, Hill City Cafe, Chute Rosters, Slate Creek Grill

If you have have any more questions just PM anytime.  We did a family trip up there this past July 2018 and had a great time.

Chris,
I missed this post for some reason. I talked to the folks who are newer owners of the campground. They didn't mention the pancakes in our discussion.
There's actually a closer Campground that's about a 10 minute walk to town. I've reserved the Ponderosa Cabin that you'll see in the video. If it's raining we can huddle there. Between the covered porch and the indoors it can serve as a 2nd spot if it's too wet for a camp fire. We've locked in some dates 6/23-6/27.
Working out details now. Attendance is going to drive some of the logistics.
