Here are what the new alignment marks look like for the cams on the 2010. The letters EX and IN are no longer marked on the cams.

Exhaust Cam (Two small indentations, one is covered by the white paint mark)

The marks are intended to line up with the surface of the head, without the rubber seal for the valve cover in place. I made a small line above the mark on the intake cam that lines up with the edge of the seal, since I left the valve cover seal on the head.

So is the paint mark the line you made or is the vertical line your mark??

The line I made is just above and to the right of the line circled that Kawasaki made. It is scratched into the surface. I did this because its hard to see the other line when the seal is in place, since it is below the edge of the seal.

Ah I see it now (Thought that was just the surface of the gear)

Thanks for the updated pics...  I am dreading doing this but it doesn't look too bad..... Just tedious

Fred, is that short line inside the circle a marker / paint line, or is it a groove in the metal surface?  Also, what is that small mark at the edge of the gear surface, just to the left of the circle?

The line is somehow etched into the surface of the metal.

I think that small mark you are seeing to the left is just something the flash picked up, you can ignore it.
