i took this at PCP motorcycle today , talked to head guy and he told me there is one a day coming in to get ready for the road , this is not good for the speeders out there ,

WTH?  These new officers have all the luck. I got to ride a HD Road King when I was assigned to the motor squad.  Yea.....lucky me.
 
The C14 is the next up and coming police bike.  I am a police motor trainer and currently ride HD Road Kings on duty.  I have tested the BMW 1200RT and the Honda ST1300 for police work in my jurisdiction.  All the bikes have a little something different to offer, but the C14 is overall the best choice for enforcement for my department.  My Dept. will be converting our fleet over to the C14 in the next year or so. 

I own a '11 Silver C14 which I use for training and personal rides.  There is no comparison in performance, rider comfort/ fatigue and maintenance.  Those of us who have been around a while, might remember the old Kawasaki KZ1000 police bikes, you can drop 'em off a cliff, pick 'em up and get riding again.  Bullet proof.  We hope the new C14 is as durable as the old KZs.
 
Saw a Corpus Christi PD one last weekend, along with a couple of V-twins that I didn't have time to recognize. Didn't think they would appreciate stopping and taking pictures. ;D
 
Hey Motorman, just don't forget that some of the C14's are plagued with the 'vibration' Kawasaki say doesn't exist! I too am a bike cop over here in Ireland and if I heard the job was trialing the C14 I'd vote it down immediately on the basis of potential health and safety.

Numb hands ain't no use trying to do the job, whether it be on an escort, or like you guys trying to aim a sidearm when you can't feel the paws.

BMW 1200RT cost to much for maintenance , for a clutch change you have to remove the swing arm to get to the clutch plates , thats a lot of hours $$$$ the shop i go to is setting them up for the CHP in Sacramento , and they excited for the business , i have a Concours and a RC51 , i mite just be riding the concours a little more now days  ^-^ CHP

I have been following that thread too.  I have a few thousand miles on my C14 now and I only had hand or numbness issues prior to installing bar risers.  I use my bike to train with at motor school which incorporates slow speed lock to lock turns, high speed pursuit, long road rides (usually around 200 miles or so) and simulated traffic stops at the firing range.  Since the bar risers installation, I haven't felt any discomfort like many others have. 

I don't think it'll be an issue for us.  We only get to speed on the freeway for short durations as we only encompass roughly 37 square miles, most of our enforcement is inner city on roadways with 45 MPH or less.  I have CHP friends on the C14 and talk to them frequently about their experiences on the bike in real world situations.  So far the biggest issue I've heard of have been the difference between the dry and wet clutches and different rider position putting slightly more weight on the front wheel during lock to lock turns.  But some of them have felt the vibration too, they have said that it hasn't been an issue yet.  I'll keep an ear out for any emerging issues.
