FL spring Wrench Session

Steve in sunny Fla

Iron Butt
Industry Vendor
Want a good reason to meet some fellow coggers, eat some food, and talk about wrenching? If so, March 23 at my place is the place to be! Don't expect to get much work done cus nobody here knows what they're doing, but my wife offered to cook, and my daughter offered to serve, so I think the food part is worth attending! There will be bike lifts for someone who doesn't like the food, so maybe you can entertain those of us who are are eating! all are welcome, maybe we'll even break our rules and actually fix something! :beerchug:
Please sign up here so we know how much food we need http://www.cog-online.org/clubportal/EventDetail.cfm?clubID=1328&EventID=176766&mo=3&tDate={d%20%272013-03-22%27}  Looking forward to seeing everybody! Steve

I'll be there for the free food learning experience if I'm not on a big silver bird on the way to Cali to visit my KLR. I did not register yet as I'm not sure on the Cali deal yet.

Later.

You're kinda prickly to talk to, but WE get over it.
Steve's got the lead on this, so it won't be the tube steak boogie ( regards to ZZ Top ). Al

# 9334 and teressa are on the list and look forward to this. let me know if i can bring anything.

I'd like to fix something on my bike, but nothing ever breaks on this thing.  I think Honda made this one for Kawasaki

Not sure what wrenching I'll be doing, but I will be joining.

Maybe I can drop the ZL600 off for a carb cleaning? :great:

Maybe so, but You gotta admit I,m a well dressed man when I,m in my 1933 coup.  :beerchug:

Well, ya know I'd like to be there.......
I might have a slight conflict with my daughter's birthday on that day, so Sunny Chicago may win out. Vee shall see

Steve,

Sounds great!  Heck, I might even contemplate doing something on the 03 Connie.  Hopefully I can find your place again.

A really nice dad would take her to Florida for her birthday, just sayin'. >:D >:D :beerchug: :rotflmao:

I'll be there with my new Michelin Pilot Road 2s on. (Don't worry, I'll have other things on too!)  :rotflmao:

I'm going to put in for the day off, hopefully I can get it!

If it does work out, that exhaust sprocket install might make a good video...  :great:
... will the production crew be on hand filming?

(My Connie could be a STAR!)

I have it on good authority that there just may be a c14 valve check performed along with changing shims if required.

Stay tuned...

I would like to be there. But with 14" of white stuff and 2" on ice on the driveway
now don't count on seeing me.
Of course you could fix everything that brakes.

How about the proper technique for washing a C-10. I know 0f a certain '99 that I could volunteer, assuming we can find someone with the right technique. I was gonna hit one of those Bikini Bike wash places at Daytona Trailer Week, but I will consider cancelling that for the good of the group.

:)) :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :)) >:D :beerchug:

Hmm  its sounds like fun...  don't need anything done except fixing my paint job  but thats another story.
I have it marked on my iphone but I dont think I have clicked on COG calendar..
Never mind  I am already in..  I am sure I will learn somethin    :motonoises:

Last registration check had 20 riders heading to Wesley Chapel. If you're going to attend, please let Steve Sefsick know how many to expect by registering on the SECOG calendar. It's free, easy and quick, and ensures that we'll have enough food for everyone.  Al

So, we're still waiting on that warm spell....what's snow with you?  :great:

poor b*stards suffering in the heat, while we toil away in the CAVE  :beerchug:

Whatcha mean, it's getting down to 39 tonight. Brrrrrrrrrrrrr. In the interest of saving the planet, we turned our thermostat down to a bone chilling 73*. Man, I hate winter. After a high of 68 tomorrow, mid-upper 70's out about a week and a half.
Have fun in your cave, sounds like a good time.

At least you can see out of your house! We just got another 9 inches of the beautiful stuff yesterday.  :'(

Any chance of a C14 fork rebuild tutorial? In bad need before the RWTW.

Mike

Ha! good luck with that! it's a cartridge fork, and special tools and techniques are needed - stuff i don't have - :'(  Steve

Any chance you guys could help me with a carb sync? Bike was running rough when I got it so I pulled the carbs apart to clean them and I don't have a manometer to sync them. I did bench sync them to hopefully get them close enough for now. I am the rookie member  :)

Vern, if you show up...it will get done. Yeah, by all means, get over and let the Dr. Steve check your carbs.    Al

Alan J,

Yes wives &/or girl friends are also invited...I'm going to hold out on the other comment I expect "one of the guys" will make.
Always good to see other females attend and get interested in the club too.
Welcome to the COG forum-hopefully you will see just how much more the club is, way beyond 'just' the forum!!

OK, on the list. See y'all there! Who's heading down from the Orlando area?
I am headed from Kissimmee. let me know your route and maybe we can ride together....
EDIT  looks like I am headed from south and you are headed from north...

I am a long shot for this event now..  anything over 150 miles round trip  I just cant do until I get my same day outpatient back surgery.
This has been the worst year in my life for riding... I should be 100 % 4 weeks after the surgery.

Carbs are clean and bike is now running well enough to ride up. Also have some stock mufflers coming in on Wed. to replace the mangled up mess that is on it now. I am going to be busy next week, Muffler replacement, clutch slave cylinder rebuild and windshield replacement. I will be riding from Lakeland, if anyone else is close by and wants to ride with let me know.

Alright tomorrow is the day I get to meet some Florida Connie owners  :)) I am looking forward to it and of course the food  :great:

I had an awesome time today, I got to meet some really great people and don't regret joining COG for one second. Great people, great food and all the help = a great day! Oh and Jo, I am going to do my best to get my back tire replaced this week for the Cedar Key ride.

I think we had a great turnout, there was over 30 including guests. Got some work done, but Jen's food was the real draw for the day. I'd like to thank everyone who came and made it a success - hope everyone had a good time!  :great: Steve

Had a good time, Jen's food was  :great: . I and my brother arrived about one minute after lunch call, talk about timing.

:'( so i got boned today by some stupid stomach bug...just now felt "good enough" to roam away from the bathroom, the ONE thing i wanted to do ALL month, and got sick the day of.  :-[

:great: Even though I only showed up for the free food and I hate meeting new people and motorcycles... man do I hate them. What an Awesome time! I chopped my garbage stock springs, synced my carbs, bought a set of "2-fast's" caliper adapters, taller clip on's (86 bars are way low) got/ won (idk) a $50 gift card from "Bike Bandit.com"! (thanks Al)! :) met some awesome people saw some seriously farkled rides and just had a helluva good time. Thanks to Steve & Jennifer for hosting, really class act guys, A+ and thanks SECOG!

THANKS!!!!! Steve and Jen for your hospitality, Grub was great. I did absolutely nothing to Connie... Of course now I owe her a valve adjustment since I didn't give her one there. At least she was good to me in Clearwater and on the way home.

THANKS again!

Thank you Steve & Jen for your hospitality. I enjoyed myself and also picked up a few valuable tips.

P.S. Al-- Thanks a bunch! You're an awesome leader.

  Tom Taylor COG#7173

Great seeing old friends and meeting some of our newest members, it was SECOG's typical meeting of the best riders and people in all of the COG areas. Thanks to Steve & Jenn for the fine spread, and to SHOODABEN ENGINEERING for picking up the food tab, which was a pretty $ignificant amount of money. Steve always donates of his time , money and talent by way of offering his services in the form of door prizes and raffle certificates for our rallies and large events. We're luck to have such an involved, dedicated, and talented member in our area.
Make those plans now for our Run with the Wolf rally. You ain't see nothin yet.      Al

If you haven't had your carbs serviced by Steve yet, get it done, and avoid the dreaded hydro-lock that we talked about. Farkles don't mean much if you're tooling around with a bent rod. Money well spent........

Steve & Jen, Thank you so much for your hospitality. I had a good time & it was great to meet so many nice people "awesome food too!!". I'm looking forward to being involved in many rides/events. Funny thing when I met Al & Steve yesterday the three of us are all originally from Massachusetts, Thought it was a Yankee get together for a minute!!. A big thanks to Al for the pressure to become a card carrying member, Best decision I've made along with buying my Connie.

Ok, so I showed up late, but still had a good time with my COG friends as usual!
Thank you Steve  and Jen for all of the food you purchased, prepared and  presented..heard it was great!!
Steve, thanks for throwing the wrenching session and for all of your knowledge in helping out the riders, and offering your location!

See you two again soon.

I was born in Worcester General and my parents lived in Sterling until I was 4.  Another dang Yankee...  I am more of a naturalized Floridian.

Thanks so much to Steve, Jen, and Mr. AL or leader!  Food and Fellowship was second to none!  Looking forward to seeing all you guys again soon!

Alan

Great day for sure! Thanks Steve!  :great:

:TPIWWP:

Photos to be posted up this weekend!! Promise! Stupid work keeps getting in my way. :33:

Yeah Brian, that's my best side for sure. Great day for SECOG. Its been said before, but worth repeating....thanks Steve, for the great day, use of your facilities and picking your brain. Thanks to everyone who turned out to make it the event it was. Mike Laven ( BUGNUT )  did a great job with these photos, and is writing an article for the Concourier.
Now...look out Suches, GA....here we come.      Al

:-\ errrr ummmmm... Great pics Mike. Guess I'll need to ignore the calls from Steve's homeowners insurance company.  :-X
