fuel valve stuck open

well thank you all one float stuck and fuel valve not shutting off fixed carb now about the fuel valve in vacum side of valve were the hose goes on if you remove fitting there is a small fiber disc in there what is it for if i leave it in valve stays open if out valve closes WHY is it there help me Thanks Mike

Mike, I'm not following you on exactly where this fiber disc is located. Do you have a picture available? I looked at the parts fiche on Bike Bandit but I'm not seeing anything like that. Go to this address and see if you can find it on the diagram.Fuel Tank. If it isn't on this drawing, I have no idea what it might be. Eddie edit - OK, you have to scroll down to find the fuel tank section. Sorry! I thought it would bring up the correct picture. COG Marketing Asst. OK I looked on fich too and did not find it but if you have 1 to look at the fitting that the vaccum line fits on will unthread and it is in there when vacum is applied the disc comes off its seat when there is no vacum disc goes back on seat and will not let diaphram go back to shut off fuel I took mine apart and found this out Thanks again Mike p.s. just want to know what is it for if it needs to be there or not

Hmmm...that's interesting. I've never had mine apart to that level. You might drop Rich Reed a note and see what he says. I'm curious now. Eddie COG Marketing Asst. Sanford, FL 2005 Concours 1969 Triumph Bonneville AMA# 686667 COG# 7073 CDA# 0136 http://picasaweb.google.com/Eddie753

Mike, I'd save yourself some headache and buy a new one for $73. Especially since the area you're having trouble with isn't part of the rebuild kit. JMHO

IIRC that disc "buffers" the vac pulses from carb 2. A pal took his apart, cleaned it up & put it back together. But I'll take a SWAG that yer diaphragm is the akshual prob & prolly needs to be r/r. Also stretch the spring before reassembly. 01 Conc, Mijami Floriduh OTP 06: http://tinyurl.com/2vk9o2 route map: http://tinyurl.com/4p7pmd
