Guess I Should Finally Say Hi

Hello!
I've owned my 2010 Concours 14 since new and love riding it but unfortunately for various reasons I only have about 8600 miles on it. Finally decided to say hi as eventually I would like to get a bit louder exhaust and possibly a tune but don't know what all the options are at this point. For exhausts I would guess the choices would be Area-P if they still make them and/or have them in stock anymore or a Delkevic. And from some quick skimming Steve (SISF) is the go to person for the ECU flashing though I don't know if that will be an option due to the ongoing (permanent?) issues I currently have with the bike. As it stands right now the bike seems to run mostly fine but it's been through a lot of crap which I will explain below.

Shortly before the covid shutdown I was getting error codes for a camshaft position sensor. After inspection I found one of the wires for the front sensor to be cut/damaged. Unfortunately after replacing the sensor I was still getting errors but then the world shut down and ended up not bringing it to a shop until 2023. They had found a rodent or something had gotten into the wiring harness and it needed to be repaired/replaced. I chose to have them replace the wiring harness just to be sure but unfortunately way later I discovered that they couldn't get a new wiring harness and rewired it by hand, but never told me. After months and months of poor communication and nothing ever really being fixed I finally told them to just put it back together and give it back. Another unfortunate thing is that now it wouldn't rev over 5-6k without sputtering and shutting off. The next shop was able to somewhat resolve that. Last year I dropped it off at a different shop and they eventually found the the secondary flaps in the throttle body weren't opening causing the issue. After a decent amount of inspection by them and discussing it with me, we decided to have the flaps removed as this was a somewhat common thing I was told. And honestly I didn't want to spend a ton of money of them trying to fiddle with the harness trying to fix something the previous shop had screwed up, and even in their words possibly never find the solution.

As said above the bike mostly runs fine but still gives error codes 11 and 59 and occasionally has a very slight hesitation during acceleration. So given everything that's gone on would a flash even be possible/recommended and if so I almost would want the codes to just be blocked/removed if possible. I don't know if I would have the patience anymore to replace the harness myself if one could even be sourced nor do I really want to drop thousands into this, and still possibly not even resolve it, which is why I lean towards doing that if it's even an option. Why do I insist on holding onto this bike instead of selling it and just getting a better condition one? This was my reward to myself for quitting drinking in 2011. šŸ˜…

Pulled from another post by Aussie in FL the error codes are 11 Main throttle sensor malfunction, wiring open or short and 59 Valve timing abnormal.

Man, that whole tale stinks...from rodents to bad shops.
As far as I know, there are still several aftermarket exhaust systems available, and a number of slip-ons (muffler).
Steve Sefsick does an awesome tune, that revises the opening of the secondary flaps, but remains them.
Contact him, explain your situation, and he may be able to tell you whether a tune will work for you.

Great advice Jorge. He will likely be able to advise on the best exhaust to buy to match the ride you desire. I always fear active mice during winter storage. This week, I just checked on the ā€œbabe in slumberā€ to see no mice in my traps and no other evidence. Sure is good to see.
