Today I dropped my C14 at a stop sign while riding with my wife.  No real damage until a very strong wind gust knocked it over again!  Now I have to at least replace one saddle bag.   And my wife has agreed to not trade me in!  That's the hardest part about riding with a loved one on the back - taking responsibility for their safety.

See my thread here http://forum.cog-online.org/index.php/topic,52478.0.html.

May I please join?  :truce: :truce: :truce:

Haven't dropped yet with my gf on the back, although I keep warning her that it will happen someday and she better be ready to jump when it does!

Welcome to the club, sad to hear about the damage but glad you are both OK!

That SUX but glad your OK and were able to ride away. Curious what you find out about the shifting issue.

I swear there are few things worse than dropping Connie with the SO riding pillion.  You'll hear about it forever.  Thank goodness Connie's was the only real damage.  I read the other thread too and I agree with whoever said to just pay it out of pocket rather than file an insurance claim.  Insurance is for when you REALLY need it.  Personally I'd just replace the bag; the rest of the damage is cosmetic - but that's just me.

I don't have any experience with the C14, but my C10 has a valve under the right side mid panel which allows you to add air to the rear shock.  This makes the bike stand a little taller and lean a little more at an angle when resting on the side stand.  It might be that your bike is standing up a little too straight and that makes it vulnerable to high winds.

And so it has now become my sad duty to confirm you as the 506th recipient of the uncoveted Connie Droppers Anonymous Award.  You have another tale to share around a Rally campfire.  My sincerest condolences!

The five most recent unfortunates:

0502 C14 Guy Hoovler
0503 C14 Lenny Melendez
0504 C14 Jeffery Kahn
0505 C14 Robert Bogart
0506 C14 Rob Jamison

I'm about to get bumped off the five most recent - one more to go!  Happy and sad all at the same time....  :) :'(
