high visibility and protective jackets

I have had my wonderful Unik leather jacket since I started riding a few years ago. Back when I was riding in sparse traffic it was fine. (I lived in Ohio and Michigan). Now that I live where the traffic patterns and driving behaviors always seem to amaze me (NYC). I have added an HID headlight which is helpful but I ride all the time, including in the rain and at night. I am thinking about purchasing a high visibility, year round jacket...perferably layered. anyone have any suggestions? 98 Windsor Green Connie

Andy, Depending on your wallet the aerostich Darien Jacket in HI-Viz might be the ticket. Otherwise there are several other choices and the most frugal is to keep your current gear and get a Hi-Viz surveyors style vest. Below are a couple links to some ideas. Hey Now, I don't ride without my Vision Reflective Vest Super Tour model. I look like a radioactive geek ;p It has held up well for 4 years now with almost daily riding. http://www.visionvests.com/products/vests/supertour.htm

get a icon mesh vest and then you can wear it over any jackets you own. love mine. hey look there it is :)

Andy, Anything bright...vest or jacket doesn't matter. Orange, screaming yellow, whatever. I have the Olympia Air Glide II and get comments all the time about it's color. Hopefully, it's that noticable when I'm riding!! Did I mention, anything bright? ;) Eddie 2005 Concours 1969 Triumph Bonneville AMA# 686667 COG# 7073 CDA# 0136 http://picasaweb.google.com/Eddie753
