Are u shopping around ?? Ricky mtn tire and atv usually has dealers for tires. Unless ur doing lots of twisties ur wasting ur.money on 6 gt's. Look at pro's or pr4 gr's, any dual compound tire. U should be able to pick up a set for less than $500. Take wheels off and bring them in for mounting is another $35 a tire ..My tire guy wants like $800 for a set. Are there other well rated tires out there that are cheaper?
Most of my riding sadly, is on 95 or the Merritt. But I do get into twisty's. National this year in West Virginia
was exceptional. Any suggestions for longevity and rain.
@dkitchen Below is a summary of a writeup I did comparing various models of tires back in 2021. I was on a quest to find a tire that would not only stick but take the abuse this machine is capable of dishing out. This is by no means a comprehensive comparison to all brands and models, only 5 tires (as detailed) were tested. Also, I am not saying I have the best riding principles, the right hand sometimes gets a little more twisty than it should especially corner exits - all this to say the below is my opinion based on our riding habits and 2-up riding.Someone I know in the club likes the Roadsmart tires and they seem a little less expensive.
thank you Steve.I am on my second set of Dunlop RSIV, and purchased another to have in reserve before the end of the winter. I wrote up a review here a while ago. I found the best pricing for a pair by shopping around on eBay, but there should be deals out there other places too. I think you should be able to find a set for under $400 now - especially if you can wait until after the riding season. Mounting/balancing can vary greatly as I have found that fewer shops charge a premium to mount/balance if the tires were not purchased there.
thank you for this great info!@dkitchen Below is a summary of a writeup I did comparing various models of tires back in 2021. @dkitchen Your mileage (pun is intended) may vary but the Dunlop RSIV I think is a tire of great value, and for us outperforming and outlasting more costly tires. I would expect at today's mainstream prices you should be able to get a set of these for under $500 if you mount then and under $600 if mounted by a dealer.
- Michelin PR4 & Michelin Road5 were too soft, aggressive 2-up riding quickly reshaped / wore these tires, also comfort seemed to go away after 3K miles. The wearing was normal, not a defect, IMO they are just not designed for the combination of heavy and aggressive 2-up riding on hot, porous tar...
- Pirelli Angel GTII tracked the grooves in road and open bridges grating too much as well extra squiggles on tar snakes (felt unsafe a couple times)
- Dunlop Sportmax Roadsmart 3, wore well handled torrential rains at highway speeds. Did spin one up on wet tar, never ever had that happen on another so I decided to swap out with about 50% tread life left.
- Dunlop Sportmax Roadsmart 4 - Wore very good, stick great, heavy rains, wet roads, even snow skimmed we had no problems. Riding 20*F to 109*F from 2021 to 2024 now without a problem. Tire stays true and wears well (for us) throughout the life of the tires and even at end of life performs top notch! See below pic of current front and rear, these tire have ~8,100 miles on them, for our 2-up riding and pace, this is phenomenal mileage (IMO). @laker9142 These are the same tires I was skeptical that they would last much beyond the Rhododendron Tour, we have at the least 2,000 miles on them since then. The front could go another little bit but the rear as of this weekend is now showing wear bars in numerous areas. I replace in sets so we'll end up giving this rubber to the recyclers.

He says he rides 95 and the Merritt so I assume he is in Southern CT. There is a Cycle Gear in Orange. Also, they will price match competitors online pricing and will mount and balance for $30 a tire if you buy from them. Not sure where you are located but I'm very lucky to have a Cycle Gear store near me, they were very fair in pricing.
Curious piqued of price match - have you experience here?He says he rides 95 and the Merritt so I assume he is in Southern CT. There is a Cycle Gear in Orange. Also, they will price match competitors online pricing and will mount and balance for $30 a tire if you buy from them.
Yep, good mileage. I'll stick with the Bridgestone T32Gt. Every bit as good as the Michelins in the wet and the Dunlaps everywhere else. I bought a set just before the national from Rocky Mountain for $430 plus a $60 rebate card. Michelins are way overpriced and Dunlaps are $70-80 more than T32s. T32s wear like the Dunlaps but I can't get big numbers for some reason. No cupping whatsoever, very stiff sidewalls, like a Dunlap, maybe stiffer.these tire have ~8,100 miles on them, for our 2-up riding and pace, this is phenomenal mileage (IMO). @laker9142 These are the same tires I was skeptical that they would last much beyond the Rhododendron Tour, we have at the least 2,000 miles on them since then.
Under $40Good information on the Bridgestones. I may try a pair next time. When you get a good deal from EBAY for the tires which I saw for a pair Dunlop RS 4's. Shipping them to your home can be considerable cost that may negate getting them elsewhere correct?
(mostly because I liked the appearance of the tread)
