So as I have 4 maps ... or is there a way to combine in one image upload to my sig block? Or is that necessary to have one image?

I would combine the images together with a simple image editor like paint and then insert the image.
Its likely that you can combine them in your sig block with a bit of code. I'll see what I can find

This new forum being similar to another forum most of us know. You should be able to have more than one photo in your signature line. Or is there something different that would prevent it? Well Colin, I'm sure you would know!  ;D

The limit would be that you are allowed 400 chars in your sig. I think its gonna depend on the length of the URL you are loading the maps from, as to how many maps you can have. I got 3 images in mine and dont think I could get a 4th, because <img>http://Big Long URL/filename.jpg</img> is more than the remaining characters I have left.

By combining them in something like paint into one image, is a bit of extra effort when the images change, but it means only one image tag in your signature block. Should be able to fit in 400 chars.

Thanks!

OK Dan, I'm figuring that you mean a few photos in your signature, like mine? So I'll go step by step just in case so that it may make it easier to help you or maybe someone else down the line. So here goes:

First thing is to get a photo. Since I noticed that you already have a webshots account, I will use that for my example. I viewed your "webshots" photo's and will try to explain this using your photo from your webshots account (that's how I did mine).  :D  Other photo hosting web sites can be different. But this should get you through using webshots.  Hopefully this will work and make it easier.
In your webshots account. Select the photo you want to use (I used yours for examples). Then on the upper right of your picture (in webshots), you will see the previous and next photo's. Next to the "next photo", you will see three choices: "Full size"," other sizes" and "full album". Select "other sizes".
From the new page that is titled "Post This Photo...", you will see three choices for posting your photo. For your signature line you will want the middle (or second) choice that is listed as: "direct link to image". Copy that line in that box,  for the photo that you want to use in your signature line on the COG forum. The line you copied will look something like this:

http://thumb1.webshots.net/t/65/765/2/56/75/2038256750033639341aLBtrC_th.jpg

Just for information: The third line on this page, "post in a forum" can be copied and pasted in a post you are writing, if you would like to post a photo in a post!

Now lets take this photo and insert it in your signature line on the forum!

In the COG forum. Go into profile on the bar on the top of the page. It will list things like "Forum Home, Help, search" etc.!

Go to "Profile", on that line. When you put your cursor (mouse) on "profile", it will drop down a list of: "summery", Account Settings" and  "forum profile". Click on "forum profile". That brings up the page that you need to be in. Down towards the bottom is the window for your Signature. (Where you already have information such as :)
"Dan Paulsen COG 2877 WA AAD"
In this section, you choose where you want to insert you photo's. (after your name for example) Then you take the images one by one, (that you copy from webshots) and insert them in that box, where you want them to appear. But you must add an IMG (Image) to the photo at each end.

In the following example you will need to change the ({),(}) that I have inserted, for ([),(]), surrounding the IMG at the beginning and end of the photo. The substituted ({) is only so you can see the nessasary writing. For example: Your photo should be like this, (with the IMG I added at each end):

{IMG}http://thumb1.webshots.net/t/65/765/2/56/75/2038256750033639341aLBtrC_th.jpg{/img}

Now remember to change the "{" I have inserted, to "[" at each end!

This is what the photo will look like this, when added into your signature:

2038256750033639341aLBtrC_th.jpg

Now just insert your photo's like this in your signature, one behind the next. Then they will appear on your signature line in a row, like mine are.

Example: (again substitute the "{", for "[" to do this)

{IMG}http://thumb1.webshots.net/t/65/765/2/56/75/2038256750033639341aLBtrC_th.jpg{/img}{IMG}http://thumb1.webshots.net/t/60/760/6/52/77/2055652770033639341iqxjKd_th.jpg{/img}

Then you should see this:

2038256750033639341aLBtrC_th.jpg
2055652770033639341iqxjKd_th.jpg

You may need to play around a little bit in your signature, to get it just right with position  or spacing. But hopefully it gives you enough information to complete this. I hope I didn't screw this up too bad, and maybe even helped!

Great "adding photo" tutorial...  and BBAR is a self-proclaimed computer novice.  :)
After reading and experimenting with this, go back in this thread and read Slybones post on the 400 character signature limit. Sometimes all it takes is one extra character and a photo may not appear or it can mess up the way the sig looks.  There is probably more instructions available from the Help link.

Sigh, I 'm going to bed...
I did use paint to combine the 4 pics into one image.
Yes noticed in the past about 400 character limit and one has to be always aware. Had to jam words together in the sig. Will work on that later.
Still, my format seems to be not working.

Dan... You are almost there:

You need to change the "}" to a "]" right after the first IMG and change the "{" to a "[/" before the last IMG, don't forget to add  the "/" inside the last IMG, it just tells the code the you are finished.

Here's another tip for ya... Look how long the link is for your image, your image hosting renames the image and creates a lot of characters... Try renaming to 1.jpg, and upload to a server that does not rename to a very long file-name, and has a shorter path, like Minus, for example.  That should free up a dozen or so characters.

Example of a Minus photo url:
Code:

MAY COME IN HANDY! Indeed!  :)
Actually I just got webshots going to post some pics of a Hydro Drive bike to the forum with the new electric bike.. I may have to go after my sig line next!
