Need quick trip advice/Russel seat

I plan on leaving in the morning(Fri 10/2) from my home in Lexington,Ohio for Appomattox Court House,Va where the Civil War ended and then on down to the Outer Banks in N.C. I plan on camping and would like to know if there is camping close by Appx C.H. memorial ? And has anybody camped at that primitive desolate spot way down on OBX? I cant remember exactly where it's at. I just got a new Russel Day-Long and will let everyone know how it worked on the trip when I get back. My C-14's old seat killed me on long rides. thanks, hope I get some quick feed back!
