Need to wire an instrument light - not stock

I've read many thoughts on lighting here and I am asking for your wisdom and ingenuity to help my situation. I bought a used bike and have fixed it up, and am now selling it. The stock instruments were gone so I got some really good advice to use LED's for oil pressure, high beam, neutral, etc. They work great! For a speedometer, I bought a bicycle computer and it also works great, giving me the odometer function, speedometer function, maximum top speed, duration, and more. It has a built in backlight but it only stays on 3 seconds, and since it's on a battery that is good. I want to set up a small, quick and inexpensive light for the speedometer using parts I can buy at Radio Shack, NAPA or Advance Auto Parts. I was thinking of a 12v white LED in a holder and mount it inside the fairing to shine down on the speedometer, but have not found any such LED's at Radio Shack. I'm thinking of going with either a red, orange or green LED in a holder they do sell and figure colored light is better than no light, and it would serve the purpose. I'd appreciate any ideas on how to approach this. thanks David David in Jax COG# 7898 NE FL AAD & COG Vendor www.dreamjobresumes.com preparing resumes for COG members and friends I ride a KAWASAKI ZZR1200 - Euro http://www.motorbikestoday.com/reviews/Articles/ZZR1200.htm US http://www.motorcyclistonline.com/roadtests/2002_kawasaki_zzr1200/index.html

Did you mount the bike speedometer to the handlebars or to the remnants of the instrument panel? If you mounted it to a dash you might get away with a cheapo LED (PEP Boys, Radio Shack, etc) that would be inserted closeby the speedometer.
