Meh....I may be a lot of things, but a painter I have yet to become. Being born on the 25th of December imparts some qualities (turning wine into urine, parting a crowd of people, walking on water in the winter)....but painting ain't one of them. Almost mysteriously, landslides on the main fairing. A huge run, maybe 4, just like the base gave away and it slid. Not in the direction of gravity, but to the side. Not even the direction I was hanging it. No idea. Now I need to find out how to color sand candy :- or if it's even possible. The texture I'd planned for the marble didn't show up as prominent as I'd liked either. Still there, and visible, but not as in your face as I'd liked. Pictures when I get inside. :( I'm disappointed....and if I can't fix this, I feel I've let everyone down. I shoulda stayed with primer ::) OK, photo's of the damage so far. Maybe I'll just let the fully assembled photo's for those attending the rally. That way everyone can make fun of my paint now. Between the runs and the pink valve cover, maybe the Dykes on Bikes rally instead?. The mottled look is the gold metallic marbleizer under the candy. Instead of saran wrap to make that large marble finish, I used bubblewrap to give it a different look. Looks much better than the photo's give it. In the sunlight, even nicer. If it weren't for the landslides on the main fairing..... :- :'( Anyway....

Jim: You are more of a painter than I am. It looks quite good. As for using bubble wrap, that was a stroke of genius, I like the look. tcars John

WOW! That is colorful! Jim, I would assume (Yeah, that's dangerous!) that you should be able to wet sand the color. I've done it in the past on enamel (which you're not supposed to able to do), but have no experience with a candy color. Painting can be a real beeotch! Good luck with it and thanks for all the effort you've put into this bike! Eddie COG Marketing Asst. Jim I think it will look great all done up. I have done some simple car paint and always wanted to try some of these products. You going to Dykes on Bikes?! More shots up on photobucket. http://s835.photobucket.com/albums/zz271/millerized/ Clear is on, one more coat tomorrow night, and we're done. Clear evened things out a bit...made up for some of the mistakes. Few nibs need eaten off, but we'll wait for it to harden before I try it. Front fender logo will take the focus off the fisheyes 10" behind it. Can't do anything with the candy runs, but they lightened up a bit, and don't look that obvious at night ::) under a moonless sky. Bags got shot with their first coat of texture. Another shot later, and they're ready. Anyway, teaser or 5...gotta get to the photobucket site to see the rest. Assembly Saturday, then into the garage while I pack the rest of the stuff I need to take.

I think its awesome. The whole concept of the bike, the effort put into it, etc. Its a true beauty. Not sure now to put into words how cool I think this is. 2003 Concours, 61K COG #6953 IBA 28004 http://home.comcast.net/~slybones/Concours/connieMain.htm
