Rifle Windshield Questions/Input

Sport rider

Iron Butt
I bought a Rifle windshield base used from one of the members here.  I made my own screen and mounted it.  The height of the screen is 18.5 inches.  I've found the wind to be hitting directly on my forehead and into my eyes (3/4 helmet).  I'm 6 feet tall and have risers on my bars, so I sit up just slightly more than stock.

I want to have the wind at the top of my helmet or above, but prefer not looking through the shield.  Does anyone have any experience around this?  Would a 19 inch shield help much?  Would buying a factory screen to mount perhaps have different curvature than my homemade one?

thanks!

I bought sheets of plexiglas and experimented with heights to get the right effect!  As far as I can tell, the only difference between home-made screens and the "factory" versions is that the factory ones are pre-formed for curvature but it is still a simple - single plane - curve.

You might try a search for "laminar lip".  It mounts on the front of the shield, and directs the air flow a little higher.

I actually have a laminar lip that I use on my stock screen.  I'm considering how I can mount that to my new setup as one of the alternatives.  :)

I found the Rifle winshield height of to my nose is about perfect, it describes about what you are asking for.  About the Lip, Laminar says the Connie lip wasnt intended for flat shield like whats used on the Rifle, I tried this at one point years ago and tend to agree with it.  They do sell a generic lip that will work however I'd rather spend the $70.00 on sheets of trial Lexan for my Rifle
