I took a 482 mile ride this Saturday. When I got back home my thighs were raw and welped. Since I am new to the Connie, am I just a tender butt instead of a iron butt. Any ideas on solving this inconvenience or should I just ride and build up callous. 2004 Connie (see links below) {img}http://picasaweb.google.com/RKamsch/MyKidS#5337922953999434802{img} http://picasaweb.google.com/RKamsch/SunNFunToMay2009?authkey=Gv1sRgCJieh-eCz57xigE#5334565015987636082

Relax. You have been tensing up. Also, maybe a sheep skin pad. Aside from that, the more miles you ride, the irony your butt gets. : 40k miles

Thanks for the advise. I will look into the sheep skin. I had one for the wing but it went with the bike when I traded for this fine piece of machinery. 2004 Connie (see links below) {img}http://picasaweb.google.com/RKamsch/MyKidS#5337922953999434802{img} http://picasaweb.google.com/RKamsch/SunNFunToMay2009?authkey=Gv1sRgCJieh-eCz57xigE#5334565015987636082

When I did long trips on my Ninja 250, I found myself tensing up, which led to fatigue and sore legs later. On the connie, I am learning to relax more, which has allowed me to ride for much longer periods of time before my knees complain. : 40k miles

Just took my first Long ride on my 90. 300 Fri after work and another 300 Sunday afternoon. It does have an 06 saddle/beads. The ride Fri was not bad. I was wearing Nike bicycle shorts under Diamond Gusset Kevlar jeans. The ride back was much less comfortable. Same jeans but with Cotton jockeys instead of the bicycle shorts. looking at getting some LD shorts for the long haul. COG # 8062 AMA # 1084053 ROMA or Scarlet harlot acording to my wife

One word...........Beads! Go to Wal Mart and get the car beads, cut them to fit your seat, they are perfect and about 10 bucks, I used to get terrible monkey butt, but since using the beads I almost never get it unless it's over 100 degrees and riding all day, Oh yea gold bond powder as well, sucks up moisture. And Murph's bar with pegs. Doesn't just stretch legs but also moves pressure points on buns. +1 on the beads. They look uncomfortable but are not and they do add air flow, especially when you lift your legs to the bars. COG # 8062 AMA # 1084053 ROMA or Scarlet harlot acording to my wife

I will get the beads this week. Thanks for all the great input. The bike budjet is kinda low right now. I will put Murph's bars and pegs on my wish list. 2004 Connie (see links below) {img}http://picasaweb.google.com/RKamsch/MyKidS#5337922953999434802{img} http://picasaweb.google.com/RKamsch/SunNFunToMay2009?authkey=Gv1sRgCJieh-eCz57xigE#5334565015987636082

The bars will pay for themselves when, not if, you get your first CDA. COG # 8062 AMA # 1084053 ROMA or Scarlet harlot acording to my wife

Rob, some great advice here from folks for going the longer distance. The Connie is a great machine for that, once it is set up for yourself. Where you interface the bike is most important.....handlebars, pegs, saddle. Get the ergonomics good and you can be very comfortable. Many like the beads (for me they're like sitting on marbles. But ergonomics ain't an exact science. ;) Being able to move around a bit in the saddle is very helpful. I do yoga/stretching exercises on the bike on any ride more than 400 miles. Some great tips can be gleaned from the 29 favourite tips at http://www.ironbutt.com/tech/aowprintout.cfm You will "work into" longer distance riding....don't force anything. :) Best rides, Pat COG 1887 IBA 5830 NRA LIFE VSSA LIFE Assorted bikes own me.

Just got in from 947 miles round trip this weekend, 600 slab and the rest twistys. Went to the Coast Ramble. Great ride with some great guys. NO SORE Butt. Did the hole thing with LD Comfort shorts from LDComfort.com. COG # 8062 AMA # 1084053 ROMA or Scarlet harlot acording to my wife
