A few months ago a portion of the highway system around the airport circle in the Camden/Pennsaulken area was serviced and repaved. This work also included a stretch of NJ Route 38. It didn't take long for me to notice that water remained on the highway surface far too long after it stopped raining. And when dry, the surface was super black and shiny.
So...last week it was reported that drivers were operating their vehicles too fast in this area in the rain, causing numerous accidents. But I suspect that the asphalt mixture contains too much base oil.
