Mike, is that pix from the stream bed that you and Roger went sliding down during the Dog Days rally? Tommy, where the Wee is parked might be just before the "point of no return" for the Connie. :8o: Pat COG 1887 IBA 5830 "Dulcinea" A13 KLR 650 "Betsy" K7 DL650 "Tri-X" DR 350SEX "Pogo" '06 Ruckus "Track Machine" '04 R6 "Grey Ghost" '07 EX 250

No, my crappy picture taking ruined those great shots. I got a couple, but none that really show the craziness of that dried waterfall...er..."road".

Here are a couple of shots of Tadpole, my beloved DL650, taken on a 2500 mile two-up ride to the Canadian Rockies this summer. I like the narrow panniers, Steve. Are those Pelicans? :) Pat COG 1887 IBA 5830 "Dulcinea" A13 KLR 650 "Betsy" K7 DL650 "Tri-X" DR 350SEX "Pogo" '06 Ruckus "Track Machine" '04 R6 "Grey Ghost" '07 EX 250

I like the narrow panniers, Steve. Are those Pelicans?
Pat, Yes they're Pelicans, 1550s I believe. They are part of the Caribou system. The good news is they are virtually indestructible and (unlike the Givis I tried) they mount far enough back that my wife has plenty of foot room when we ride together. Down side is they are heavy, expensive, and their narrow profile limits what I can cram into them. Still I'm not complaining - they were on the bike when I bought it. Steve

I don't see it Pat My Wee is sad, the only miles it's gotten since 19Sep is 70 miles round trip on the freeway to the shipyard. You should see my back tire, not pretty, it's COMPLETELY flat in the center with loads of side tread. I'll be putting Met. 880's on her for the next set of tires  Roger ('07 Wee Strom) COG 5903 Virginia Beach, VA

OK, I'll try again with the new COG how-to link. ;) {IMG}http://klrider.smugmug.com/gallery/6352945_jtnEa#401233486_FaQqF{IMG} Well, at least you're in the saddle, Roger. Better than a bike wearinjg out while parked! You gonna jump ship and get to the Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr Ride?? You still have those sides of the tars to wear out! Oh, well. I do own a Wee Strom. It can be viewed in it's dusty glory at the Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr Ride. See you there. :) Pat COG 1887 IBA 5830 NRA LIFE VSSA LIFE Assorted bikes own me.

Lets see... I think its missing a slash at the end.

Hmmm won't work for me either even with the slash. The path is good but does not go to a single picture. Try this.

Last August (2008) several of us did a great trip thru all the Canadian Maritime s, and then did the Trans Labrador Highway...672 miles of dirt/gravel road, interrupted with a 13 hour ferry ride between Cartwright & Goosebay (no road). I knew my 06 FJR wasn't the bike for the trip, so I found a beautiful 2005 DL1000 V. The others all had BMW GS's. I've had a lot of bikes, and the DL1000 is one of the best bikes I've ever owned/ridden. We did 3300 miles on that trip, and I finished the year with 8500 plus on the V-Strom. I call it my "cheap" GS (half the price, and does everything as well). Think summer, Doug V cog#7866

Thanks for another great testimony to the V Strom, Doug. They don't get as much press as what's "latest and greatest", but they sell out of showrooms quickly! I had an '02 DL 1000, later went to an '07 DL 650 that year. Love the bike. I did the same trip in reverse from Bae Comeau across route 500 to HV-GB over to Newfoundland and NS about five years ago. Four of us, all on KLRs. Great trip, I'd like to get back there again.........soooo many roads! ;) Pat COG 1887 IBA 5830 NRA LIFE VSSA LIFE Assorted bikes own me.

Pic at Coffs Harbor, between Sydney and Brisbane AU http://tinyurl.com/blkfva one of many, many photos of the trip Rode brother Al's weestrom 80 days and 24k km circumnavigating Australia including Tasmania in 2007. I felt like it was my bike after that. Surely the best bike I could have been on for that tour. What a long strange trip it's been, man.

I just bought an 05 DL1000 this spring. I rode it to the Moonshine run this spring and will be on it again to the national rally in Fontana. I get a big grin on my face every time I ride it. The way this thing delivers torque is just a hoot. I've got some Happy Trails panniers on it, a Corbin seat, Cee Bailey shield, Give crash bars, Murphs hiway pegs, Racetech Gold emulators and Sonics. I still love my Connie, but the leg room on the V is so much better for me (6'2")
