Warped Rotor?

JJ

Big Wheel
When applying the front brakes, my 2000 feels like a rotor is warped (grabs-releases). Is this common with Connies or could the problem be something else? If it is a rotor, can it be turned or is replacement the only option? Thank you all for your help with my other issues!

It is usually the rotors. Try to spin the wheel and see if you can see wobble. Feel all the round both rotors on the surface to see it there is a bad area on the rotor that could cause grab also. Some have tweeked rotors back into str8 enough but I don't have a procedure. Turning them comes into play if you find a rough area that maybe a bad pad caused. Then you have to measure the thickness and turn it out if you can and replace the pads. ---------------------------------- I will answer any question. It is up to you to figure out if I should have.

JJ, I have had 2 Connies and sometimes this does happen. My 96 had warped rotors all the way around at around 52k miles. I chalked it up to the yr and that particular batch of rotors. I didn't persue getting them coverd by the dealer od Mama Kaw. It was late in 99 by then and well past the warrenty. My present 2001 w/ 48k is doing just fine. I have miked all of them and they are just fine. So I guess my input is more or less this, it has beem known to happen. If you are still in warrenty or just out I would go back to my dealer and possibly Kawasaki for info. Good luk, and ride safe. Greg

Way back when my sled had a slight warp prob so I showed it to my stealer when he wuz changin my tars. Amazingly it went away on its own soon after. That's my kinda repair! ;) 01 Conc, Mijami Floriduh Over the Pond 06: http://tinyurl.com/2vk9o2 route map: http://tinyurl.com/4p7pmd

Steering Head nut. Before I tightened mine, any weight set on the front end (hard decel) would shake like crazy. Have you checked this?
