I was in the process of tire shopping and that was the plan... Figured I had a little bit more time...Boomer said:If those are the stock Bridgestone BT021's (and they do look like them) then they are crap and most of them do exactly that.
Ditch them and fit your choice of Michelin PR4GT, PR5GT, Pirelli Angel GT or GT2, or any of several other tyres that I am sure others will now chime in with.
They will give you better dry grip, way better wet grip, better mileage and better feel.
Kawasaki fit Bridgecraps because they are Japanese, not because they are good.
I'm told some of their later tyres are good, but the front BT021 is barely decent for the first 3000 miles and then goes downhill rapidly.
I have run PR3, Angel GT, and currently have PR4 (non-GT) and have never had any of the problems I had with the OEM BT021.
I'm getting 14k miles out of my front PR4s and 10k from the rears.
I have checked them religiously try to keep 42 front and rear cold... and typically the tpms never agrees with my gauge. I’ve seen as low as 39 indicated on the bike when I know it’s 42. Could I have lost a little disconnecting my pump sure. But yesterday the bike was showing 44 front and rear all day. I would think for a tire to do this it would have to be a lot more than just 2-3psi over inflated...RWulf said:That sure looks like a radial with too much air.
Good to know new shoes on order...connie_rider said:When the OEM tire is near the end of it's life, it does that "very" quickly...

No I trailered it home and got new tires....Nickrides said:Thats one UGLY looking tire
I personally wouldn't ride on that one
The Dunlop RS 2's are cheap these days and quite nice.

My opinion is that its due to the dual compound construction of sport touring tires along with the rounded profile of motorcycle tires.
